Can the Nation’s Largest Non-Profit Health System Create One Cohesive Wellness Program across 1,900 Locations?
In 2014, Ascension brought all of its hospitals together under a single wellness program for the first time.
This was as an ambitious task as Ascension has grown into the largest nonprofit health system and largest Catholic health system in the nation with 1,900 locations across 23 states and Washington, D.C. Some of its ministries provided robust wellness programs, while others had no program at all.
Nevertheless, Ascension was able to roll out a single wellness program sponsored by the Ascension owned health-plan, SmartHealth, and exceeded expectations within its first program year.
This case study details:
- Ascension’s strategic approach to driving participation
- The impressive success they have achieved within their first program year
